Amy is helping Billy pick out his pumpkin for the pumpkin painting contest this Friday. By the smile on Billy's face - we are thinking he is happy with her pick. Betty was so excited about how much furniture she could fit in her new apartment at Rockport; she invited me up to see.

"Of course," she says, "I haven't spent much time in my new apartment because there is so much to do! Today I was at show-and-tell and I showed my new neighbors my hand-painted dolls wearing the clothes I made for them. They are over 50 years old!" I love to share in our new residents excitement. On the hottest days of the year Rockport has set up a "cooling station" for any seniors in the community that need to take a break from the heat. We have lemonade, cold cut sandwiches, pretzels and lots of friendly residents to chat with. People are welcome to come in, stay for a sandwich, enjoy our activities and STAY HYDRATED!!
Not only today but every day Rockport owners and staff are thinking of how to keep their residents safe and happy. Being local owners they are also very supportive in the community. Stop in any time. We'd love to give you a tour.

We love special occasions at Rockport. Mother's Day was beautiful. The music, the food, friends and family all came together in our banquet room to create a special memory for all who attended. As you can see we had a visit from the Easter Bunny this year as always and once again he brings with him smiles for everyone. It is wonderful to share good times with the people who you see every day at your table. Many residents at Rockport enjoy reading in their room, or heading out somewhere with their family but it is always nice that at the end of the day, they can sit down and share their meal with good company. Our chef has been with us for 10 years and he loves people to come in and sample his cooking. Call anytime to come in for lunch or dinner. Just call us at 440-356-5444. You are always welcome.

Rockport residents urged us to go out and take a photograph of their courtyard. They called it their own "Winter Wonderland". The residents said they are anxious to get back out in the garden and walk in the courtyard but also were enjoying their beautiful view on that icy winter day. We are all excited about our new corn hole game especially made for our cook outs and picnics we are planning in the months ahead. Remember, you are always welcome at Rockport. Sam and Jerry Lukehart have been living at Rockport since 2008. We were honored to attend their 50th wedding anniversary which was held in Rockport's banquet room. There were tears of joy as family and friends gathered to hear them look back over the years and be grateful to still be together. The staff enjoyed dressing up for their residents Halloween Party! The residents are excited to see the Holiday Season rolling in. There is always so much to do like painting the pumpkins, making ornaments for the Christmas trees, looking forward to all the entertainment that is booked. THE BONFIRE!!!!! About 30 residents at Rockport sat around the bonfire for the first time this fall. They enjoyed singing, hot chocolate and of course the infamous s'mores. HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF

Caroline and Betty are just a couple of the residents who helped plant the garden this year in Rockport's beautiful courtyard. And today - the first tomato was picked to eat. It was perfect!!! Juicy and ripe but just too small to split up amongst all our gardeners so I ate it myself!! :) Soon it will be fall and we will have our bonfires in the courtyard. We all sang "God Bless America" as we enjoyed a good ole' American meal....hot dogs and burgers!! The live music definitely helped our voices come together and the time flew by. Out of 109 residents at Rockport we are happy to celebrate with the 47 of them that are men!! We had a great time with music, awesome food and a lot of laughter. All in celebration of Fathers' Day. Though at Rockport we are spoiled to have a wonderful banquet room that allows us to just celebrate "life" with good friends any ole' time we want. Our bus took many of our residents over to share in the celebration of life. And that is what life is all about at Rockport - celebrating, sharing, learning and relaxing. Noreen was hoping for a strike; the question now is...did she spare it up??? Though we have a WII bowling league many of our residents still enjoy tabletop bowling. Often times our sister community Harbor Court will come down to challenge us. Either way, it is always fun and we welcome guests!!! Always remember to look at our calendar and come in for some fun. Our residents love to be active and love to help others do the same. ROCKPORT SUPPORTS THE WALK TO CURE BREAST CANCER!

Support and Smiles were handed out at the Komen Breast Cancer walk that went right past Rockport Independent and Assisted Living. Staff and residents handed out over 550 bottles of water to the dedicated walkers. Many of the walkers commented on Caroline and Rae as they leaned over their walkers to reach them with their water. They laughed, they smiled and thanked the "young ladies" for quenching their thirst. That is why it is so wonderful to work, live and visit Rockport. The staff and residents hearts make every day a blessing. Stop in and visit us some time or call and come for lunch. 440-356-5444

One of our favorite things to do at Rockport is to host family luncheons and dinners. Its a chance to relax with each other "just like home". There is always alot of smiling, family pictures, good food and the most important is that there is alot of time. Time for families to hang around talking to other families and everyone's fast paced life is on hold....as wonderful memories are created. George (in the middle) has had that smile on his face ever since he learned that his lady friend, Marge is coming up to stay in one of our furnished respite suites to visit. How can you tell it is summer time at Rockport Independent and Assisted Living? We are eating banana splits in the afternoon! Just because it tastes so good! In our lobby you will see and hear one of our residents playing the piano and sometimes even accompanied by one of our staff members daughter McKenzie on the violin. CARDS ANYONE?

It is difficult to tell who is winning in this picture because they all look so happy. Every evening you can find 8 to 12 people playing various card games in our family room at Rockport. They have been know to carry their cards with them so they can catch a quick game before lunch and dinner. Cards is only one of the many activities our residents enjoy together. The residents who drive get together a group of people and go listen to music, watch a play or take off to a senior center for events they have scheduled. And our Rockport bus does the same. Off site or at Rockport there is always something to do. Come join us some time. Just call 440-356-5444.

Life is good at Rockport. The staff enjoyed serving the residents and their daughters a wonderful fettuchini and shrimp luncheon in honor of Mothers' Day. Wine was served, hugs were given, smiles were shared as we all enjoyed the food, the violinist as well as family and friends. It was a beautiful day. We thank you for letting us serve you. We thank you for being such wonderful people.And we thank you for making Rockport your home.

Our residents and staff are all excited as they begin their planting for the season. They planted a variety of herbs that will start growing in our dining room windows then be transplanted to our courtyard. But that's not all. Our flower beds have been ordered so we will soon be very busy in our courtyard. Remember, you can always "plant" yourself in one of our events anytime you wish. Olga and Maria were surprised when the Easter Bunny joined them for lunch this week. All the residents enjoyed a pork roast lunch and several residents had guests join in the fun. of the evening". Instead of going "home" to their rooms after dinner they gather in the lobby for friendship and conversation. This group can always make me laugh as well as making each other laugh. At lunch today one of our residents, Lucille was surprised with a boquet of flowers. She was so surprised she could barely find the words to tell us that they were from an old friend in the neighborhood where she used to live. We immediately told Amy Zauner, our assistant administrator about the surprise because Lucille is Amy's grandmother. She moved in this past year when she lost her husband and was lonely. We have a feeling that Lucille will be receiving more flowers soon. Right Amy? Don't forget to look at our upcoming events. Come in and join us any time.

Jack Susel has his eye on the 8 ball as the game has come "down to one" ball to win. Jack Petcher and Hugo Gardin look on as Jack lines up his shot. If he misses, no problem, because there is always another game to try and win. Every day between 9 and 11 the guys and girls at Rockport gather in the family room to shoot pool. Come join in any time and give us "your best shot". We love visitors.
